Message from Principal Monica Eason

Welcome to Vandenberg World Cultures Academy (VWCA)!  My name is Monica Eason, and I am the proud principal of a school where all are welcomed, parents are our partners, and the VWCA staff work collaboratively together to nurture our scholars and create future leaders of tomorrow!

Over the past 23 years, I have had the privilege to work as a classroom teacher in Detroit Public Schools and Southfield Public Schools as a general education teacher and as a special education teacher.  I have also had the honor of being a professional development facilitator, and an adjunct professor with Oakland University and Baker College. My greatest achievement is that of being a mother of my two wonderful daughters, Kennedy and Madison, who are students in Southfield Public Schools where my husband and I both serve as administrators.

I take great pride in being the instructional leader of VWCA, which has a student and staff population that represent more than 27 countries and more than 25 languages are spoken.  I am a servant leader who treat all of my students as if they were my own.  I have affectionately told my students over the years, “Once you are my student, you will always be my student.” I truly believe in the “village concept” where working together creates amazing opportunities that, as our vision statement says, “supports academic excellence, independence and exploration in a safe, responsible, and respectful environment.”  Please know I am committed to working as diligently as I can to be an advocate for your child, and I believe in open, honest, and consistent communication, so that together we can provide a world-class educational environment and experience for our scholars.

If you have any questions or would like to contact me, please feel free to email me at:  Also, please view our weekly parent SMORE Newsletter, which is sent out to families via the Southfield Public Schools School Messenger platform.

Educationally yours,

Monica Eason, Ed.S.
