Public Participation

All meetings of the Board, except closed sessions called in accordance with Public Act 267 of 1976, shall be open to the public and no person shall be excluded except for breach of peace actually committed at the meeting.

A person shall not be required as a condition of attendance at a meeting to register or otherwise provide his/her name or other information to fulfill a condition precedent to attendance.

Persons may address the Board of Education by submitting a request in advance of or at the meeting and may speak to items on the agenda or to other matters.

Request to Address the Board of Education on Non-Agenda Items - With Response
Citizens may request to speak to the Board of Education on any topic by submitting such requests in writing to the Secretary of the Board of Education by noon Wednesday preceding the regular meeting date.

Such requests should be delivered to the office of the Superintendent and contain the name and address of the requester and the topic to be addressed.

Persons submitting a written request to address the Board of Education will be called upon under the portion of the meeting entitled "Public Participation" at which time a response will be given.

Request to Address the Board of Education on Non-Agenda Items - Without Immediate Response
Citizens may request to speak to the Board of Education on any topic by submitting such request at the beginning of the meeting by using the "Question/Comment Card."

Persons submitting a "Question/Comment Card" to the Board of Education will be called upon under the portion of the meeting entitled "Public Participation". It should be understood that the Board may not respond to the comment or concern as it is not aware of the matter being brought to its attention.

Petitioner must state name and address for the record and comments will be limited to three (3) minutes.

Matters requiring a response will be answered at a future time.
