Welcome to Bussey Center for Early Childhood!

All programs at Bussey Center for Early Childhood Education are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. It is one of only seven percent in the nation to have successfully completed this accreditation process. Bussey is a HighScope Accredited Program. Bussey is Licensed by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing. We also have a high star rating from the State of Michigan Quality Rating Program.

Head Start 

• Preschool program serving children 3 and 4 years of age as of September 1st of the school year of entry
• For children from low income families
• Breakfast and lunch served daily
• Free to residents of the Southfield Public School District

Great Start Readiness Program

• Preschool program serving children 4 years old as of September 1st of the school year of entry
• For children with two risk factors (i.e. low birth weight, single or teenage parent, non-English speaking family, chronic medical condition)
• Free to residents of the Southfield Public School District

Special Education

• Preschool program for children, 3 to 6-years-old, with diagnosed disabilities that interfere with learning
• Transportation provided
• Free to residents of the Southfield Public School District
