6th Grade: STEAM

In this course sixth graders use Design Thinking to develop solutions to problems through Empathy, Definition, Ideation, Prototyping and Testing

7th Grade: STEAM

This twenty-week (one semester) course is offered for seventh graders during the first semester. Students are introduced to Mexican-American culture through the reading of a young adult book entitled, The Tequila Worm. Students also delve deeper into basic Spanish vocabulary and grammar. Topics studied include: clothing, numbers, colors, foods, holidays, body parts, calendar, places in the city and more.

8th Grade: STEAM

This full-year course is the equivalent of High School Spanish I. Upon successful completion of this course (B- or higher) students will be able to go on to Spanish II at the high school. This academic course seeks to develop speaking, listening, writing and reading skills, while at the same time focusing on grammar concepts. Students have regular homework, quizzes, and projects and receive participation points for using the language in class.
