  • The district’s most requested “School of Choice”.
  • 15 students worked each week as Credit Union employees.  MacArthur students and parents deposited more than $20,000 in the Michigan First Credit Union during the  school year.
  • MacArthur Academics Games was established in the 2018-2019 school year.
  • 40 students attended and competed in the Bridge Building Competition in Lansing, Michigan.
  • 40-5th Graders and 20 parents and 3 staff members took a very successful field trip to Chicago in May, 2018.
  • Approximately 40 MacArthur students are involved in the MacScholars Program.
  • Cranbrook partnered with MacArthur and provided several related experiences for MacArthur students.
  • Each MacArthur teacher has a Chrome cart accessible for students to use in the classrooms.
  • MacArthur staff continued it’s very successful “Instructional Learning Lunch” program where students in grades K-8 can receive additional assistance from  the teacher in the areas of Reading, Math, Science or Social Studies during the student's lunch time
  • MacArthur has very successful mentoring programs; Young Women with a Vision and Young Men with Purpose.
  • Approximately 70 % of the MacArthur students in grades 3-8 were on the Honor Roll.
  • 6 MacArthur students were selected to be a part of the 2017-2018 School Improvement team and met regularly with the team to discuss ways to improve our practice.
  • The 1-8 Student Council partnered with Southfield Goodfellows to adopt 9 children for the Christma holiday. 
  • MacArthur was the first school in the Southfield Public School district to established and complete its first year of    “Pretty Brown Girl” club.   
  • MacArthur held a Pretty Brown Girl club for the 2017-2018 school year.
  • Over 300 “Grand Parent’s” attended the annual “Grand Parent’s Day” celebration in September, 2018.
  • 72 Middle School students participated in a program at three College campuses: University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Oakland Community College.
  • In October, 2017. we hosted our annual Technology Night, where parents had an opportunity to win desk top computers, Kindle Fire tablets and gift cards. Local sponsors included: Comcast Internet Essentials and Best Buy.
  • MacArthur's Futures are Bright held a fundraiser to feed the homeless for Thanksgiving in 2018.
  • We had over 85 percent parent participation in our Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences, in November, 2018.
  • Parents Participation was over 80 percent in an effort to support the following activities: OktoberFest, Technology Night, Title One Meetings, Scholastic Book Fair, Career Day, Field Trip’s,  Honor’s Assembly’s, Holiday and Band Programs, Basketball, Volleyball and Track and Battle of the Books.
  • The MacArthur Middle School Concert Choir participated in Noel Night in December, 2017.
  • 20 - 8th grade students attended the Washington D.C. trip, in April 2018
  • 5 - K-6 students were recognized and honored for the visual presentation in the "Brainstormers" Reflection Contest
  • 50 - 6th graders entered the “Why I would want to be Mayor of the City of Southfield” contest. 1 student placed 1st place and 1 student placed 3rd place.
  • 45 -  parents participated in Career Day in March, 2018
  • 1 teacher was selected as “Teacher of the Month” by SPS, April 2016.
  • 1 teacher was honored by Oakland County as  “Outstanding Teacher”.
  • Cub Scouts Pack #1672 received the Dr. Martin Luther King Annual Youth Community Service Award for their outstanding service and commitment to the Southfield community.   
  • Cub Scouts Pack #1672 participated in the Great Lakes Council Mobile Event. 1st place - Creativity, 1st and 2nd place - Downhill Dash and 2nd place - Long Rush.
