The Southfield Public Schools Academies are based on professional career themes. Each Academy offers enrichment opportunities while operating as a school-within-a-school. Students participating in an Academy will be enrolled in rigorous academic and career-focused curriculum meeting both requirements for entrance in a four year college and/or industry. Students accepted into an Academy are required to successfully complete Academy specific courses and related Task Benchmarks in order to graduate with a designed Academy Major.

Each Academy has an Advisory Board that helps provide the district with information on current workforce trends that helps to decide instructional focus. This information helps us to provide our students the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. Southfield Public Schools has also developed post-secondary partnerships with colleges and universities for each Academy. These partnerships can enable students to move from one of our academies into one of our partnering post-secondary schools.

The mission of the Southfield Public Schools Academies is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that is centered on particular professional career themes that prepares them to make informed educational and career choices in a global changing world.
