Musical Extended Learning Clubs

Stevenson offers several opportunities where students can increase their musical knowledge and apply that knowledge through performance.

Recorder Club is a cumulative program that begins instruction in the third grade, continues in the fourth grade, and completes instruction in the fifth grade.  Students learn to play pitches B-A-G in third grade during regular class time. Students may join extended learning Recorder Club in the fourth and fifth grade at recess time for a period of 6 weeks.

Recorder club is offered in the fall for fourth graders interested in learning to play new pitches, improving tone production, and performing at the Winter Concert. Choir is offered in the winter for fifth graders interested in improving vocal tone production and performance skills for the African-American History program. Recorder club is offered in the spring for fifth Graders interested in learning new pitches, advanced fingering and challenge tone production for performance in the spring concert.

Kitchen Club is offered in the spring for 3rd graders interested in reading and playing rhythms with a variety of tone colors.  Students sample "kitchen instruments" such as spoons, pie pans, washboards, etc.   It's a fun club that meets at recess for 6 weeks and performs at the Spring Concert in April.

We hope that you will try out one of our many popular clubs at Stevenson!
