Southfield Enrollment/Registration Information
There are several ways to become a part of the Southfield Public Schools family:
- District Resident - Families that reside in the Southfield Public Schools boundaries.
- Schools of Choice - Once accepted through the Schools of Choice program, you may continue to attend Southfield Public Schools through graduation unless there is a break in enrollment. Transportation to and from school is not provided.
- Children of Southfield Public School District Employees - (Your paycheck must come from Southfield Public Schools) Once accepted you may continue to attend Southfield Public Schools through graduation as long as the parent is still employed by the district. Transportation to and from school is not provided.
Michigan Law states that a child’s residence for educational purposes is with his/her parent or legal guardian.

If any enrollment documents are found to be falsified, your child will be ineligible for enrollment.
Required Documents for Enrollment
- Original Birth Certificate
- Immunization Record
- Vision Screening (for kindergarten only)
- Latest Report Card (for students entering 1st - 9th grade)
- Transcript (for student entering 10th – 12th grade)
- Disciplinary/Behavior Report for the previous school year (for students entering 1st grade)
- Disciplinary/Behavior Report For the previous 2 school years (for students entering 2nd – 12th grade)
- For Students Living With a Court Order Guardian: Current Court Ordered Guardianship Documents
- Current IEP (for students receiving special education services)
- Completed School Of Choice Form (For Out of District Students)
Proof of Residency:

Current Mortgage Statement or City Property Tax Statement from the City Hall

Current DTE statement (pages 1 & 2) AND current Consumers Energy statement (or connection notices if you've just started service)

Office Hours:
The office is opened Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm by appointment. All enrollment is done through the online application system. If you do not have a computer/smart phone or if you are having difficulties navigating the online system, please call for assistance on the phone or to make an appointment at (248) 746-7601 ext. 3. We make appointments so we can provide each parent with great customer service in a timely manner.
