Guidance

Counselors provide a comprehensive guidance program which meets the needs of their assigned students in grades 6-8. Counselors promote and enhance academic, personal, social, and career development of all students.

Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Conduct goal-oriented counseling sessions
    a. Help students to understand and deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems.
    b. Counselors emphasize preventive and developmental counseling to enhance students’ personal, social, and academic growth and to provide students with the life skills needed to deal with problems before they worsen.
  2. Consult with and serve as a resource for teachers, staff, and parents
  3. Refer students and their parents to community agencies, programs, or specialists as appropriate.
  4. Fulfill professional responsibilities.
